RED HOUSE VALEDICTORY DINNER – Mrs Kerry Thomson
A huge thank you to Marli Preston and Sammie Brittain for oganising the 12 Red Valedictory Dinner held at The Max on Wednesday 11th October. All those attending had a wonderful time reminiscing about their last six years together and the amazing experiences they had shared. “Awards” were given to those most deserving which created many laughs about events that the staff weren’t always knowledgeable about. Several Red House staff also attended with special guest, Mrs Reilly, the former House leader, pleased to catch up with students. Former class member, Sam Harris, who is completing Year 12 by distance Education because of tennis commitments, was also welcomed back to celebrate the occasion. Marli and Sammie were thanked for their organisation whilst Mrs Thomson, their lucky form teacher for 6 years, congratulated the group on their achievements and wished them all success in their future endeavours. As Matt Almond said at the end, the warmth and smiles of welcome at form assembly every morning made coming to school worthwhile! The Red House class of 2001 – 2007 will be missed.
YEAR 12 PRACTICE EXAM
Congratulations to the 13 Year 12 Red students who took up the opportunity to sit this 3-hour practice last Wednesday. Their English skills, concentration, writing hand and “bottom” were all put under pressure and many lessons were learned about time management, hydration and confidence. It was an activity highly valued by those who attended and recommended for those in the future.
Best wishes and good luck to all Red House students completing their VCE exams over the next few weeks and we hope that all your hopes and dreams are fulfilled.
SPORT
More than 13 Red House students have made it through to the next round of competition. This is a magnificent effort to have so many from the one House. Stand out performances in the last round were Sam Withington wining the U/16 800 metres and Caleb Byrt winning three events including breaking a record in one event that has stood for eight years. Good luck to all those through to the next round.
